Paleo German CurryWurst

Paleo German CurryWurst

Sharing is caring!

Have you ever heard of Currywurst? It’s basically a sausage covered in a super simple curry-ketchup sauce. I love this easy recipe for those busy weeknights when you just need to get dinner on the table in under 30 minutes! Except for the bratwursts, maybe, you probably have all the ingredients in your pantry and refrigerator already. There’s nothing better than when I see a recipe where I already have all the ingredients and I don’t need to buy anything extra! It’s the frugal side of me. Special ingredients that I will probably never use again except for that one recipe is a deterrent even for this girl who cooks a lot!

I first saw this meal on a lunch menu at a German restaurant here in town and was fascinated. I don’t think of curry as a German food. Wonder where and when curry was introduced to the German people? Anybody know? Because currywurst, come to find out, is a pretty popular dish in Germany! Though, curries are everywhere in London. There’s a huge Indian population in England since England owned India for a couple of centuries. So, maybe Indian curry expanded to other European countries like in England.

German food is one of my favorites and one of my family’s favorites too! We love a good weinerschnitzel or roulade. Apple strudel is to die for and tarts make my mouth water. I live for Christmas time when Stollen comes out! I may need to experiment with more gluten free German desserts come the holidays, what do you think? Do you have a favorite German recipe?

This recipe for currywurst is SO easy that it’s regularly on our menu for the week. I make it at least once a month and even better, bratwurst was on sale at my local grocery store this week so I stocked up! Potato salad has been a huge craving lately so I made a big batch of my German Potato Salad to go along with this meal. It heats up perfectly for workday lunches as well! Try it and when you do, tag me on Instagram (@frugalnfit) so I can see your creations! Seeing readers create and enjoy my recipes is one of my favorite things and I’d love feedback too if you get a minute! I hope you love this recipe as much as we do.
