About Me

Hi! I’m Samantha. I live in Colorado and by day, I’m a Doctoral Librarian for a university here. I love my job, most of the time. It’s mostly behind a computer and phone, though, answering research questions for students writing their dissertations. So, by night, I try to be as active as possible. I battle PCOS and Endometriosis, which seems determined to pack on as much weight as possible onto my petite 5’3’’ frame.

I was diagnosed with PCOS at 17 after going 19 months without a period, which was confirmed when at age 23, I developed 2 large cysts on my ovaries that needed to be surgically removed. It was then that I was also diagnosed with Endometriosis. Doctors have told me that I’ll probably need help conceiving if and when I decide to have children.

I got serious about losing weight in May 2017. So far, I’ve lost about 60 pounds. I hope by the end of 2018, to have hit my goal weight of 135 lbs. My first step was to do the 21-day sugar detox. I’ve had success on it in the past and knew it would be a great first step for me. From there, I’ve tried to stay 80/20 Paleo. I’m completely gluten free as I also have migraines that seem triggered by gluten. Those have completely disappeared since May. I’ve gotten off Sumatriptan for the headaches and Metformin for the PCOS. My blood sugar is now normal! In November, I started Frugal and Fit as a way to keep myself accountable and help others who might be on a similar journey. As a single girl living on a single income, I’m passionate about helping others realize that clean eating on any budget is achievable!
